Quartz Stone | Natural Quartz Worktops

What is quartz?

Quartz is one of the hardest natural minerals on earth and an important component of many rocks such as granite.

Crushed natural quartz is also the main ingredient of man-made quartz surfaces.

These raw materials create a unique surface where variations in colour, tone and pattern may occur.

Quartz slabs come in 12mm, 20mm and 30mm thick and as they are man-made they always have the same dimensions. The colours are available in both a matte and a polished finish.

How are quartz surfaces made?

The first step in the manufacturing process is the testing and weighing of the various raw materials that are needed: crushed quartz, resin, additives and sometimes also granite, glass or mirror particles. These ingredients are then mixed with just the right amount of binding agents and the desired colour pigments.

This mix goes onto the production line and is put in rubber moulds (shape of a slab) which are then vibrated and put in a vacuum to obtain perfect compression. These slabs are then hardened in a special oven.

As dimension is very important, each slab is calibrated on all its sides before receiving its shiny or matte surface of the grinder.

Why quartz surfaces?

The quartz manufacturing process allows our suppliers to create products with an almost unlimited colour palette and surface finish that can fulfill any design need.

Quartz surfaces can have unique colours that don’t exist in natural stones and also colours that are very similar to natural stones. The difference is that these quartz colours can be safely used for worktops whereas their natural stone equivalent might not always be suitable for worktop use.

Colours ranging from matte earthy shades over grey tones to polished elegant whites will colour-match and blend in with any interior whereas our stunning marble patterns love to be a real eye-catcher.

Quartz is one of the hardest natural materials making the finished cut-to size quartz surface extremely suitable for a wide variety of both interior and exterior applications such as kitchen worktops, vanities, fireplaces, staircases, table tops, outdoor furniture, etc.
